Release Date: June 19. 2026

20 years ago, the Bergen-based band Lorraine broke through in the British underground scene with the 7” single “I Feel It.” Shortly afterwards, the band was championed by Pet Shop Boys as their new favourite band, and praised by the British music press across the board — including NME, BBC Radio 1, XFM, Time Out and Capital Radio — something unusual for an electronic pop band facing the notoriously tough UK music press at the time. The band got signed Sony BMG / Columbia Records, leading to a re-release of the single and a chart position at #28 on the UK Singles Chart. At the same time, “I Feel It” became the most-played Norwegian song on NRK P3 that year, while also receiving heavy rotation on other Norwegian radio stations and MTV.
This made Lorraine one of very few Norwegian bands ever to reach the UK Top 30. The band followed up the breakthrough with intensive promotion and touring throughout the UK, including appearances on MTV’s 1 Leicester Square with Russell Brand and Popworld on Channel 4. The cover artwork was designed by Peter Saville, while the music video was directed by Howard Greenhalgh, best known for Black Hole Sun — both longtime dream collaborators for the band.
The planned album Pop Noir was never released, but over time gained status as a “lost UK album” — a myth that has circulated, been discussed and long requested online for years. Now, Lorraine have regained the rights. In 2026, the album will finally be released in its original form. “I Feel It” marks the first single from the release — 20 years after its original release on Sony BMG UK.
